We received another great letter in the mail today that I wanted to share. Philip Bryson from Longmont, CO writes:

This is a belated note to express our thanks to you for having replaced a Nite Guard Solar unit, bought through a poultry website, which had not worked. The replacement you sent works well and we've been very pleased. We're grateful to you for having stood behind your product.

Yours very truly, Philip Bryson

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

We received a wonderful letter/testimonial recently from a customer in Bay Minette, AL. I wanted to share!

I have to tell you how pleased I am with the Nite Guard Solar. A friend had (4) around his hen house and told me they worked. I've lost at least 8 or 9 chickens and I trapped 1 opossum. I ordered 4 Nite Guards and since then I haven't lost even 1 chicken! They are GREAT and I'm telling friends and family that have birds all about them. My cousin, who has a quail farm, is very excited to get them as well, as I related what they have done to her over the phone. I will see her in person Friday and also give her your phone number and info.

I love how the solar panel charges them, they stay on all night and my chickens are now secure (well fed and happy!). Thanks for being a blessing and you should be getting more and more orders from this area!

Thanks again,

J. Biggs, Bay Minette, AL

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

Coyote are not only a threat to poultry and livestock, but they are becoming increasingly more of a problem to the family pet in many urban neighborhoods. We speak with people all over the nation who have very real and valid concerns about the threat of coyote (as well as other predators) to their cats and dogs. The Nite Guard Solar units can help keep your pets safe from dusk through dawn...the times with the highest incidence of kills by nocturnal predators.

Check out the news footage as well as the LIVE security camera feeds of a coyote in FL hunting down a family cat...
There are alot of good tips at the end of the video on how to help protect YOUR family pets from predators...and don't forget that our Nite Guard Solar is another great option!!

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

We recently had several farmers and ranchers from South Dakota participate in a test of our product against their coyote problems. The results were impressive! We believe that there is NOTHING else out there on the market that will STOP coyote problems like our original Nite Guard Solar device will.  Read about a current article that was printed in Best of Farm Show 2012...talking about purchasing PEACE OF MIND from a company that stands behind you offering information, guidance, and support to eliminate your predator problem.

Coyote_Nite Guard Solar

Recent South Dakota Coyote Test Proves Successful

Losing calves, sheep, goats and poultry to night predators will end without harming them and you will be using the sun for power. A recent coyote deterrent test stopped coyote kills on sheep ranches in South Dakota.

Nite Guard Solar®  a solar powered flash of red light that turns on automatically at dusk and off at full daylight was proven to do this. This unique product is currently being used by farmers and ranchers to protect their livestock.

Animal behavior studies have shown that night predators all share a deep fear of flashing lights as they sense them to be another organism, such as man or another animal, and feel threatened. Raccoons, opossum, fox, skunks, bears, cougars and coyotes will leave your area alone – owls and hawks also are repelled by the Nite Guard Solar as well.

Nite Guard Solar is environmentally friendly, using only the sun or daylight to power them.  This product has a range of ½ mile or more, is weather protected, small and compact(3”x3”x2”) will operate to 30 degrees below zero and is protected against rain, snow and ice.

No more electric fencing, no more need for guard dogs or the nasty time consuming job of trapping critters that are killing the livestock you worked so hard to raise. A typical arrangement of four lights will cover many acres as the lights are visible from ½ mile away to a predator.

Nite Guard Solar is not a strobe type light and will not be annoying to you, your neighbors or your own livestock. There are some “knock off” products entering the market that advertise the same results as this product. Nite Guard Solar is the original product backed by extensive customer service.  We are the premium predator control headquarters.

“When you purchase our product you are also purchasing peace of mind that we will stand behind you offering information, guidance and support to eliminate your predator problem” says Jim Meyer  inventor of the Nite Guard Solar ®

Thinking of putting your lights away for the winter?

Here's our tip...

Get the full life of your lights by NOT putting them away.  Leave them outside to continously charge.  They are completely weatherproof.  As a secondary benefit use the lights for a different application this time of year.  Put the lights by a driveway entrance or doorway to give the appearance of a security system in place.

We recently received back word from a new customer who was testing the Nite Guard Solar® on alligators! She reported back to us after testing our product for several months and here is what she had to say:

"Previously I ordered 4 Nite Guards and you were kind enough to send me 4 additional to continue testing on alligators. We live in South Carolina and have a huge pond behind our home. In the past yeaers, we have always had alligators all summer. I have noticed this year we had one alligator for a short time and I have not seen them back since using your product. My husband and I really appreciate your company allowing us to test your product and report back with very positive results. We realize there is no way to be completely certain, but without a doubt your product has reduced the alligators. Thank you again!"

As the cooler, crisper air hits us here in Minnesota this week, our schedules seem to just keep heating up! It's an exciting time of the year for us here at Nite Guard as we generally attend several Tradeshows to show, promote, and sell our Nite Guard Solar® units to many new and existing retailers across many different retail fields. Just last week we attended a great show in Minnesota focusing on the Landscape and Gardening Industry. Over 600 retailers were there to learn about proven performers and hot new items in the Lawn and Garden Industry. This weekend we head to Missourri for a popular show reaching out to key people in the Agricultural/Hardware industries. And then next week we are heading to Pennsylvania for the big Mother Earth News Fair where we get a chance to interact directly with customers like you! It's a highlight for us when we get to speak with each of you one-on-on and also hear your feedback from using our product over all of these years! Stop by and say HELLO if you are attending the Mother Earth News Fair in Seven Spring, PA!

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

Mmmmmmm....there's nothing that tastes better than SWEET CORN at this time of year! And those that grow this delicious crop know all too well how difficult it can be to keep the raccoon out of it. The 'coon think it's delicious, too!

This is an excellent opportunity for farmers to try a clean and green product that will STOP the raccoon from eating their corn. Positioning the Nite Guard Solar® devices around the perimeter of their sweetcorn patch...about 1 light for every 50 feet of perimeter...at eye level of the raccoon...will effectively keep the raccoon OUT. That means more sweet corn for others to enjoy, and more profits for the farmer!

We are humbled to be able to help farmers put an end to this problem...and proud to be able to back that up with a 100% money-back guarantee!

   By Katie Berning              (0) Comments

Eyespots are a form of “automimicry” in which a spot on the body of an animal resembles an eye of a different animal to deceive potential predators; to appear as an inedible or dangerous animal to the predator.  This fascinating design of nature played an important role in the design of the Nite Guard Solar light and helps explain why it is so effective at keeping predators away.

See our March 7, 2008 blog for additional information on eyespots.

   By Katie Berning              (0) Comments

Is Nite Guard Solar motion activated?

This is a common question we get from our customers and the answer is very important...no it is not!  The light was designed to be light sensitive and activate automatically instead of activating from motion.  We felt it was key that the predator see the light flash from a distant, instead of triggering the light by being so many feet from it.

The Nite Guard Solar charges during the day and then starts to flash automatically at dusk or when it starts to get dark outside.  It will flash a red light about every second until the dawn or when it starts to get light outside.  You may even see the light flash on stormy days when the skys are dark and cloudy.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about our product.  You can call us direct at 1-800-328-6647; email us direct at info@niteguard.com; submit questions/comments through our Contact Us page on this website or comment on one our blogs or articles.

   By Katie Berning              (0) Comments

We just recently have had an influx of calls from the southwestern part of the country.  People raising turtles are having problems with raccoon coming in the night and destroying their turtles.  Not to be too graphic, but the raccoon dig the turtles out of the ground and then eat the limbs and head of the turtles.  One person lost 9 turtles in one night!

This is very devasting to the people we have talked with recently.

I hope our Nite Guard Solar lights help give some piece of mind to these turtle owners as they install the lights in their backyards.

I'll keep the blog up-to-date with the progress of this application.

If you are considering our product, please give us a call.  We'd love to talk with you and explain how the Nite Guard Solar can help you.

The damage and injury from night animals to horses, especially foals, can be a serious problem. The trauma inflicted on these animals we love so much is extremely hard to witness, and the cost can be immeasurable. Physiological and behavioral stress, as well as bodily injury often occurs. Coyote, coydogs, cougar and wolf are often the culprits and are becoming extremely bold as man moves into their territory. Once again, the conflict goes on between man and wild, each species attempting to live out their lives while inadvertently invading one another's territory.

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

We all know that deer can be a pesky problem this time of year. They are beautiful creatures...but not so beautiful when we see them destroying our gardens and flowerbeds.

Laurie Harrison of Norfolk, MA is taking back control by using the Nite Guard Solar® units. Laurie writes, "These Nite Guards are great. We love them. They stopped our deer problems entirely."

We hear these success stories often this time of year for deer. It is important to remember that with deer, proper placement is essential. Generally, four light mounted on a single post (facing north, south, east, and west) is the BEST placement option for deer. Of course there are some circumstances where this is not the best option, and we are happy to assist you individually with your specific situation. You can just give one of our predator control experts here at Nite Guard, LLC a call. No matter HOW you mount them for deer, however, it is imperative that you MOVE the lights about once a week to ensure that they do not "pattern" the lights. Deer have become so domesticated and are highly intelligent, and they can get used to the lights if they are not moved regularly. Deer are the ONLY animal that we have to move the lights for. Happy Gardening and Growing...deer-free!

   By Tammi Leppla              (0) Comments

Security is a peace of mind. When we feel that our homes, property, valuables, and loved ones appear and/or are secure...we are more relaxed and confident. Did you know that many people use Nite Guard Solar® as part of their overall security plan for their home and property? Well, they do! Every day we receive calls from customers who are thrilled with how the Nite Guard Solar® light "appears" to be a security system in place against HUMAN intruders. The continuous flash of the red light "appears" to the human that they are "being watched". Much like the same instinctual fear that nocturnal predators have, humans also sense that fear and choose not to take a chance bothering the home or property.

We have seen a huge growth in the number of lights that are sold strictly for security purposes...being used at both primary properties and vacation properties. In fact, because of the increasing need for home security in the Phoenix, AZ area, Nite Guard Solar® is being used there in many of the hundreds of complex areas such as Apache Wells. This scenario is true all over the country...Nite Guard Solar® lights are an affordable, convenient, and maintenance-free option for helping YOU feel more secure.

It was my first year attending and I was fortunate enough to learn a lot of interesting information about organic farming...plus was able to participate in a Farmer's Product Showcase and educate people on our Nite Guard Solar® light. It was great to be SO WELL RECEIVED by the attendees there. Many of them had already heard about us during presentations throughout the weekend by other farmers and also through word of mouth and advertisements. I was proud to hear that Vince & Julie Maro of Coon Creek Family Farm spoke about the success they have had with our product keeping owls away from their pasture poultry. I also was so pleased to have Rosanna Baumann stop by my booth and tell me that she, too, had given out information on their success with our product in her Multi Species presentation. We are so thankful to everyone that knows how well our product works and has the passion to share that knowledge with others! Thank you!!

Owls, coyote, raccoon, bobcat, wolf, bear and deer; virtually all night animals share one single thing in common: The fear of being watched. To night animals this sense of being observed by another animal or man creates a huge threat and they will flee an area where they sense this is being done. An animal that hunts or feeds at night will not remain in an area where it feels it has been discovered.

Your eyes snap open, you look at the clock, its 3 a.m. and the sound of the howling pierces the night.  There is no doubt what this is – a pack of coyotes has moved in close and are probably headed for the stock you moved into the north pasture last week.  Your mind races: the snares and traps you’ve set better do their job or you will be out several head of prized goats.  The stock is probably up and nervous. Should I head out with the gun?

Predators can be devastating to livestock producers – most of us know that. Especially at
risk is the open grazing methods of raising animals or poultry.

Coyotes head the top of the list of livestock killers when it involves goats, sheep and
calves on grazing land, although fox, wolves and bear get their licks in too. Poultry and
waterfowl fall victims to raccoons, possums and owls and controlling federally protected
raptors such as owls and hawks is nearly impossible from a legal standpoint.  The
constant battle against all these types of predator problems is complicated and takes up a
lot of valuable time. It’s a given to say predator control attempts can be very discouraging
for people protecting animals using open grazing as a natural method of producing meat
or milk.  Of course, the predator type critter with the bad reputation is just trying to live
his life, like the rest of us.  And a good meal is part of it.

Eye Camouflage and false eyespots are commonly found on many types of insects, fish, birds and mammals. Consider the “eyes” projected on the tail fan of a peacock or the round eye like markings on many moths and butterflies. Even tropical fish have false eyes to distract predators as does the bobcat with white eye type markings behind each ear – again to distract and repel predators that might attack them.
Eyes are an incredibly important means with which to communicate among all species and in most cases project a threat or alarm message to others that would attack them.

When we first started raising game birds here at Oakwood Game Farm in the late sixties, our state game and fish people were more than willing to provide us with drawings and installation instructions for capturing hawks and great horned owls as a control measure for protecting our livestock.
